A boy died and a girl was injured at an unauthorised brick kiln at Piplimal in the Belpahar area on Tuesday. Police said Pyara Santosh Gudia (17) of village Kudaloi under the lakhanpur police limits was working at the kiln for last two months. All of sudden, he was electrocuted and died on the spot and his coworker Puja Bhaishal (18) sustained serious injuries and was admitted at the TRl Hospital.
Sources said Gudia was reading in +2 second year Arts at the Belpahar College and simultaneously working in the kiln to help his family. lakhanpur Tehsildar Dolamani Patel confirmed that the brick kiln is totally unauthorised and illegal. He has asked the Belpahar RI to inquire into the matter and submit a report. When contacted, Jharsuguda DlO Arun Rai said legal action would be taken against the brick manufacturing unit owner Padmanav Parida.
