Sixteen-year-old V Ramu drowned on Sunday in river Mahendratanya while returning home after watching the movie Bahubali in Puranapatna of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Sources said four of Ramu’s friends of Visakhapatnam had come to Puranapatna to watch Bahubali. After watching the movie, Ramu along with his friends went to see the heritage site Brundaban Palace. later, before returning they decided to take a bath in the Mahendratanaya river, which flows nearby.
While taking bath Ramu’s feet slipped and he fell into the river. Seeing this two of his friends jumped into the river and tried to rescue him. But after failing they informed some locals. Police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and fished out his body.
