Boy dies of jaundice in Nayagarh

Published on:
One more jaundice death was reported in the State after a boy succumbed to the disease in the wee hours on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Chandan Nayak (17) of Uthana Sahi of Kachapali village under Nuagan block in Nayagarh district. According to family sources, the boy had been detected with jaundice 12 days ago. The family members admitted him to the Nuagan hospital. However, following the advice of doctors, they had admitted him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he died at about 3 am on Wednesday.
Though a number of patients of Uthana Sahi have been affected by jaundice, neither the Nuagan hospital authorities and nor the district administration have information about this. It is alleged that the outbreak of the water-borne disease has taken alarming proportions in the district as the authorities have not taken any step to purify the drinking water supplied through pipes.
