The Commissionerate police have finally managed to arrest Raghav Jena, the kingpin of the notorious bouncer gang, which was allegedly involved in settling property disputes using muscle power in the capital city.
Jena, a resident of Jharpada, was in the most wanted list of the police for the demolition of two shops in the Nayapalli area in March 25 and was absconding from then. Three police teams were on his trail to nab him.
According to Zone-V ACP Sanjeev Satpathy, a team of the special squad has apprehended Jena from the Banki area. Another associate of Jena, Samir Ranjan Ranasingh was arrested on Wednesday.
He would be forwarded to court and taken on remand for further interrogation. Jena had demanded Rs 20 lakh to settle the Nayapalli property dispute but was paid Rs 13 lakh. The police are on the lookout for some of Jena’s absconding associates and the persons who hired them for the job, Satpathy said.
Earlier, the police had arrested more than 19 members of the gang for their involvement in the ransacking of two shops of Subas Aggrawal and Pradeep Samal in Nayapalli.
Earlier on April 12, an enforce squad of the BMC with the help of police had razed to ground more than 30 houses which were constructed on Government by Jena in the Jharpada area.
