Vigilance officers on Thursday arrested Boudh district’s Kantamal CDPO Jasobanti Behera for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs20,000 from the president of a Self-Help Group (SHG) to pass a pending bill.
President of Maa SHG Sailabala Dash of Ghantapada village under the Kantamal police station in Boudh district had supplied Chhatua to the Kantamal CDPO and the bills for November and December were pending.
When Dash requested the CDPO to pass the bills, the latter demanded Rs20,000 to pass the same.
However, Dash reported the matter to the Brahmapur Division Vigilance SP and, accordingly, a trap was laid and Behera was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs20,000 from the complainant.
