In an environment-friendly initiative and to create awareness about the benefit of recycling and ensure 100-per cent recycling, two bottle recycle machines were put up at the Puri railway station on Monday to avoid plastic wastage at the station premises and railway tracks of the holy city.
In order to encourage passengers to participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a sum of Rs 10 per bottle would be rewarded to the passengers in their free mobile application charge wallet for utilising the machine.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has installed the machine on an experimental basis. On success of the venture, the ECoR has planned to instal the facility at other important stations over its jurisdiction, said an ECoR release.
