After helping a mother of an autistic child in Mumbai, Odisha-cadre IPS officer Arun Bothra, who is heading three departments of the State Government, has once again hit headlines for another generous act by intervening to help the family of an autistic kid of Brahmapur.
Amidst the nationwide lockdown, the Indian Railways delivered a package of camel milk weighing about 20 kg from Falna in Rajasthan to Bhubaneswar for the autistic child on Thursday. The delivery was made through the Parcel Express service of Indian Railways on the request of 24-year-old mechanical engineer Chandan Kumar Acharya to the IPS officer on Twitter.
A few days back, Chandan had tweeted about his three-and-a-half-year-old nephew, who is autistic and survives only on camel milk and pulses. He also mentioned that due to the lockdown, his family was not being able to source the milk. As Bothra had recently helped a Mumbai-based woman in a similar situation, the former requested him for help in arranging camel milk for his nephew too. In a quick response, Bothra forwarded Chandan’s request to the IRTS SETU, a unified helpline that facilitates movement of necessary goods through available modes of transport. The delivery was made at the Bhubaneswar railway station within two days of the request in exchange of a transport charge of Rs 125.
Later, Chandan with the help of the Ganjam police got the travel pass and reached the Bhubaneswar railway station to collect the package. He expressed his deep gratitude to Bothra, the Ganjam police and railway officials for their joint efforts helping him get the camel milk for his nephew.
