Both the pro and anti-Posco villagers have held separate agitations in the project site. The project sympathisers are pressing for fulfillment of their 4-point charter of demands, while the project opponents have been protesting the steel firm without any change in their stand.
In Nuagaon and Gadakujang villages, hundreds of residents from the locality have converged showing their dissatisfaction over the long delay in the execution of the steel mill project. They said it was due to lack of coordination between the Posco authorities and the State Government that the project had been delayed by several years.
On the other hand, the Posco opponent group has started their agitation in Patana village under Dhinkia gram panchayat reiterating their demand for a complete halt to the project in their region.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Posco boundary wall construction was halted for last two days when the agitators did not allow any civil and Posco officials to visit the spot. The district administration tried to sort out the issue by convincing the pro project people to refrain from their stir but to no avail.
District Collector SK Mallick informed that as per the demand of the pro-project villagers, the Government would soon hold a RPDAC meeting, where the grievances of people would be addressed.
