All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Dr Ajay Kumar on Monday termed the Narendra Modi Government anti-farmer and pro-capitalists.
“The BJP Government has betrayed farmers by not keeping its promise to fix minimum support price of paddy at the cost of production plus 50 per cent profit and by waiving import duty on food grains to benefit his businessmen friends,” Kumar told a Press conference here.
Citing the latest National Crime Records Bureau report, Kumar said as many as 12,602 people involved in the farming sector committed suicide in 2015. He said the Congress would take on the Modi Government on every available public forum.
He alleged that the Modi Government has benefited capitalists by waiving their loans worth Rs 1,54, 000 crore during the last three years.
“Due to negligence of the Government, 35 farmers commit suicide in the country every day,” he said.
