Bonai CPI(M) MlA laxman Munda threatened to sit on dharna from August 6 if his demands are not fulfilled.
Briefing to Press on Sunday in presence of CPI(M) State secretary Janardan Pati, CITU national vice-president Bishnu Mohanty and other party leaders here, Munda said he has already submitted a six-point charter of demands to the district Collector, Sundargarh and its copies to different authorities.
His demands include early renovation of NH-215/520, restriction on heavy vehicles (10 wheelers and above) in NH-215/520, peripheral development and employment to local tribals in Koira mining area through jobs, awarding sub contract in transport of ore supply to manual siding and reopening of closed mines, where about 3 lakh people have been deprived of livelihood and construction RD road from Jamdihi to Rengra.
He further urged the Collector to resolve those issues through amicable discussion and fix a timeline on or before August 6 next or else he would be compelled to hold dharna with the deprived people before the DDM office at Koira, Rungta Mines Division office, Essel Mining Industries and other mining offices.
Besides, he warned of holding Rail Roko at Patasahi Railway Station to stop transportation of iron ores and road blockade on NH at Kalta, Roxy, Koira and Bimlagarh.
CPI(M) leader Pati said though Munda is the sole party MlA in the State Assembly but his leadership will not be confined to Bonai or Sundargarh. Rather his agitation for public cause will be an inspiration for the people of other parts and gradually he will lead demonstration in other parts, he added.
Regarding railway apathy, Pati said though every year the Railways is gaining revenue worth Rs14,000 crore, but surprisingly, still there is no rail line to seven districts so far.
Talking of the present election system, he said though the BJP has only got 31per cent of votes and NDA as whole got 37 per cent votes, yet it formed the Government at the Centre. He demanded proportionate representation according to vote percentage.
Criticising the double standards of BJD, Pati said while the ruling party in the State is fighting with BJP, it is at peace with the BJP at the Centre.
He also said there should be an expenditure ceiling for political parties in election. He criticized the delaying attitude of the State Government for implementation of the Food Security Bill (FSB).
