Unidentified miscreants on Thursday hurled crude bombs and fired shots at a liquor shop in Niali of Cuttack district. The two bike- borne miscreants hurled three bombs and fired a couple of shots at the shop. Though there were no reports of anyone injured in the incident, the shop was badly damaged in the incident. The police, after preliminary investigation said from the modus operandi of the miscreants it seem that they wanted to terrorise the shop owner to pay extortion money.
Coming close on heels of the violence in the area during the recent panchayat polls, the incident has put a question mark on the local police to curb the rising crime graph in the area, said locals.
