Bombs hurled at ex-MlA's SUV in D'nal

Former Dhenkanal BJD MlA Nabin Nanda had a narrow escape on Monday after unidentified miscreants hurled country-made bombs at his vehicle near Takhurpal village under Gondia block in the district.

Though the SUV of Nanda was badly damaged, he escaped unhurt in the incident. The incident occurred when he was on his way to attend “Dhenkanal Swabhiman Surakshya Abhiyan” rally along with his supporters.

Reports said two motorbike-borne miscreants lobbed two bombs at Nanda’s vehicle and fled from the spot.

Though the exact motive behind the bombing is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident could be fallout of some past political or personal enmity.

“My vehicle has been damaged due to the bomb attack during my visit to Kaluria gram panchayat. I have already informed the district administration and DGP RP Sharma,” said Nanda in a Tweet.

Nanda further stated that the incident occurred when he was on his way to attend a meeting at Takhurpal village from Kulria gram panchayat.

“The miscreants had hurled bombs targeting me. But due to God’s grace, the bomb hit my vehicle. As I have been visiting different villages and listening to the grievances of people in the constituency, the attack might be the handiwork of my political rivals,” said Nanda.

Sources said several supporters of Nanda were accompanying him in a motorcycle rally. Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the incident.
