Unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at former Brahmapur Municipal Corporation Mayor Siba Sankar Dash’s residence at lingaraj Nagar under Gosaninuagam police station on Tuesday morning.
The incident has panicked Dash’s family members and local residents. While the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, police suspect that Dash’s rivals committed the crime. The police were scrutinising the CCTV footages to nab the culprits.
local Corporator Namita Panda expressed deep concern over the incident.
Notably, police had arrested Dash in July 2016 in connection with some criminal cases and he is in jail now.
Sources said the security man of Dash’s house informed the police soon after miscreants hurled bombs. IIC Ramesh Chandra Dash along with his team reached the spot and collected explosive materials used in the bombs and took recordings of CCTV camera installed at the house. The footage showed that miscreants returned on a motorbike after hurling bombs, said Dash.
