Panic gripped Jagannath Nagar in the Palasuni area in the city on Thursday night when bike-borne miscreants hurled bombs at an under-construction apartment and sped away from the spot.
The incident took place at Bhabani Apartment in the presence of the security personnel.
“Two youths came by a motorbike and hurled three bombs targeting the under construction structure. We ran into the building out of fear,” said a security guard deployed at the site.
“After the miscreants we found several particles used in making country-made bombs,” he added.
While the motive behind the crime was yet to be ascertained a business rivalry is being suspected in the case.
The apartment owner has lodged a complaint at the Saheed Nagar police station in connection with the incident. He has mentioned the names of some suspects in his FIR.
