Tension prevailed at the Patharbandha slum under the Saheed Nagar police station in the city on Tuesday morning after unidentified miscreants hurled a number of bombs at a house in the slum.
Sources said four bike-borne miscreants hurled several bombs one after the other in the slum and fled from the spot. However, no one is reported to be injured in the incident. On getting information police rushed to the spot and begun an investigation into the incident.
While the exact motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police suspect that notorious criminal Prakash Bisoi along with his associates carried out the bombings.
Locals alleged that Bisoi was allegedly involved in a brown sugar peddling and frequently caused problems to the residents in the slum. He was handed over to the police by the residents and was recently released on bail. He might be involved in the bombings in a bid to terrorise them. However, the broad daylight bombing has triggered panic among the locals, who demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
