'Bold literature can remove graft from society'

Published on:

Bold literature is ideal as it helps remove corruption from society, said Assam Governor Janaki Ballabh Patnaik inaugurating the 11th national-level writers’ conference and sixth Patrika Hatta organised by the Kadambini Media here on Sunday.

Patnaik said there are a lot of similarities between Odia and Assam literature and culture. He also referred to the language movement in Odisha when patriots and great writers like Madhusudan Das, Madhusudan Rao, Gopabandhu Das and Fakir Mohan Senapati strove to create the best of literature possible, give Odia language distinctness and save it from the dominance of the Bengalis.

Patnaik was felicitated with the Kadambini Saraswat award on the occasion. Banichitra secretary Parikhita Jena, distributor and seller of Kadambini Tl Murthypatra were also felicitated. Among others, Tirupati-based Sanskrit Vidyapith Vice-Chancellor Dr Harekrushna Satpathy and eminent Odia orator Prof Santanu Mishra spoke.
