Bolagarh Tehsildar Niharika Nayak, who had recently incurred the wrath of Begunia BJD MlA Prasant Jagdev for not bowing to his diktats, met the Revenue Secretary here on Monday. She reportedly apprised the Secretary about the assault incident and sought her transfer from Bolagarh.
It may be recalled here that Jagdev had allegedly thrown a lighted lantern at Nayak on October 31 after the MlA asked her to carry out an eviction drive from an encroached land at Ekadalua village in Bolagarh Tehsil during the night.
The Tehsildar had said to the MlA that eviction can be only carried out next morning after measurements and other formalities. However, this infuriated the MlA and in a fit of rage he threw a lantern at Nayak which had hit her, the Tehsildar had alleged.
later, an FIR was filed by Nayak against Jagdev accusing him of assaulting her while she was discharging her official duty. The tehsil staff had also gone on a cease work stir in protest against the incident. But later they had resumed work after the intervention of senior officials. However, Jagdev had refuted the allegations and said he had cordial relations with the Tehsildar.
later, hordes of supporters of the MlA had tried to meet the Chief Minister at Naveen Niwas but were denied entry by the security personnel to the CM’s residence. This according to political observers hinted that now he was in the hit list of the BJD supremo. The incident also provided ammunition to the opposition BJP which alleged that the law was not taking its own course in the State and sought the arrest of the MlA.
