Bogus ration card holders to be out of list: Minister

Published on:

The State Government would take steps to strike out names of bogus ration card holders in the coming days, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma informed the Assembly on Saturday.

Refuting allegations that the Government has not implemented the Justice Wadhwa Committee report, Dasburma said the Government has abolished the sub-wholesaler system on the basis of the recommendations of the committee.

The Minister made the statement while replying to a question by ruling BJD MlA from Athgarh Ranendra Pratap Swain during the Question Hour. Swain had alleged that beneficiaries were not getting wheat and kerosene through their ration cards.

Swain wanted to know why the Government is not taking any action to implement the Justice Wadhwa Committee report, which had recommended that the names of all fake ration card holders be struck off from the list of beneficiaries.

Participating in the discussion, Nimapara MlA Samir Das alleged that the Puri district administration is not following the recommendations of the Wadhwa Committee and demanded that power to appoint and cancel licence of retailers be given to the block level committees.
