The incident of a political activist misbehaving with lawyer Kedar Rout in the court premises on Tuesday has been strongly decried by the lawyers’ fraternity here.

Members of the Ganjam Lawyers’ Association on Wednesday met and urged SP Pinak Mshra to take strong action against the accused, Ramnath Panigrhai, at the earliest. Panigrahi, who had a quarrel with Rout in his village Karida on June 29, later came to the court and threatened to implicate him in a false case on July 2, the lawyers informed the SP.  They informed the SP that though Rout went to lodge a complaint at the Jorada police station, it was not accepted. In response, the SP assured that the Additional SP would conduct an investigation soon into their allegation and action would be taken accordingly.

Among others, association joint secretary Kiran Mandal, former president Mohan Singari, Pramod Panda, Pitabas Panda, Chiranjit Rajguru, Pradip Behera, Karunakar Panigrahi, Tara Prasad Patro and P Subash Patro were present.
