A dead body of a contractor of the Jaleswar area was found with multiple injuries under mysterious circumstances in Rajnagar under the Dantun police station on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek Bhuyan (Bapun) of Balarampur village under the Jaleswar police station.
While the body was spotted in a farmland near the border of Odisha and West Bengal, the Jaleswar and West Bengal police began a joint investigation into the incident.
Bapun’s family members alleged that he was murdered and demanded action against the accused. The reason behind the murder was yet to ascertained, but sources said he was murdered due to his extramarital relationship.
According to sources, Bapun had illicit relationship with a married woman of his village; and a few days ago, he was also caught in the woman’s house by her husband. He was warned of dire consequences and asked to refrain from such a relationship.
Although source said that the husband of the woman was also apprehended by the Dantun police, no official confirmation could be obtained about it.
