A wild boar cub of about three months old died on Sunday after it fell in a ditch dug by the Ultratech Cement Company for erecting a fence near Khamar Nagaon village under the Gurudijhatia police station.
Forest officials recovered the cub’s carcass from the ditch for postmortem. Khuntuni Forest Range Officer Maguni Behera said a case has been registered against the company and an explanation has been sought from the company management in this regard.
As the company is constructing its proposed infrastructure adjacent to the reserve forest, more and more wild animals would be affected time and again by its different activities, which is antagonist to the very existence and free movements of animals, Congress leader said Uma Ballav Rath.
