Balangir district’s Saintala Tehsildar Anil Kumar Pattnaik and his Additional Tehsildar Rajendra Kumar Khora were arrested by Vigilance officials on Friday for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs5,000.
They had demanded the bribe from one Saroj Kumar Sahu of Burda village to release his tractor. Sahu stated that he has got a tractor and trolly registered in the name of his father. Before 10 days while his driver was bringing sand from river, Pattnaik caught the tractor with loaded sands.
The accused allowed the tractor to go with a condition to pay Rs20,000. But Sahu could not pay the amount. The Tehsildar then telephoned him and demanded Rs5,000. On Sahu’s complaint, a trap was laid and both the Tehsildar and the Additional Tehsildar were caught red-handed by Vigilance officers at their office.
