Reports of poor people migrating in search of livelihood from backward areas of the State continue to surface at regular intervals, exposing how the migrants face torture and exploitation at the workplaces.
According to complaint lodged in Muribahal police station, one Kalia Nag of Gudighat village of Muribahal block had migrated to brick kilns at Benugopalpuram in Chittur district of Andhra Pradesh along with his wife and two children in May this year. However, according to reports, Nag was missing from the worksite since July 23 evening.
“We suspect that my brother has been either kidnapped or killed there. Hence, we request you to inquire the matter and find him out,” urged Nag’s elder brother Puroshattam to police.
The District labour Officer, Balangir, could not be contacted for a comment on the incident.
