Following the row over a pet dog biting and critically injuring an eight-year-old boy at Tapaswini Colony under the Infocity police station in the city, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has in a tweet said it would soon come out with a notification for keeping pets.
As per reports, the victim boy Arjun Khatei was riding his bicycle in the colony when the unchained American Akita dog bit him, as a result of which he sustained critical injuries and was shifted to an ICU of a private hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Subsequently, the kid’s parents lodged a formal complaint in this regard, acting on which police registered a case against the dog’s owner Srabani Patnaik.
Other residents of the colony also pressurised Srabani’s brother to relocate the dog. Police subsequently asked her to relocate the pet or else the BMC would take it to a shelter home. Accordingly, the owner’s brother took the dog from her.
