The Lingaraj police on Wednesday arrested an employee of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for allegedly peddling brown sugar in the city.
Acting on a tipoff, police conducted a raids and caught the accused red-handed while he was selling the contraband item.
The cops seized eight gram brown sugar worth Rs 80,000 , Rs 42,000 cash, 40 gram gold, a motorcycle and five mobile phones from his possession. “The accused is engaged with BMC. He will be produced in court today,” police said.
