BMC issues notice to DAV Unit-8

After the Hotel Presidency and the Iskcon temple, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued a notice to the DAV Public School Unit-8 for dumping construction and demolition materials on public road.

In the show-cause notice issued to the school authorities, the BMC accused them of dumping garbage and plastic that is washed down and choking the drains. The school was also discharging polluting water into the drain causing unhygienic and insanitary conditions in the area, stated the notice.

The school authorities were asked to pay fine for such illegal and unauthorised actions failing which the Corporation has warned to initiate proceedings under the Orissa Public Demands and Recovery Act 1962.

The school was asked to submit its explanation within seven days as to why suitable action should not be taken against it under the different provisions of the CMC Act 2003 and Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules 2016, BMC Users Charges Regulation 2015 and why penalty should not be imposed on it for unauthorised dumping of the materials.

The BMC also threatened to cancel the school’s occupancy certificate if it does not come up with proper explanation.
