The Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s former Mayor Siba Shankar Dash was on Thursday released from the Brahmapur Circle Jail on a bail granted by the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court.
Notably, Dash had been arrested on July 7, 2016 from New Delhi in connection with many cases.
Sources said as many as 37 cases were pending against him related to murder attempt, illegal use of explosives, extortion and threats in different police stations of Ganjam district. However, Dash alleged that false cases were registered against him and a group of people had conspired to settle scores with him.
Regarding his future plan, he said “I have good relations with both the BJD and the BJP and I will continue to serve people through politics.”
Das was the city Mayor while in the BJD. later, he switched over to the BJP and fought 2014 elections for the Brahmapur Assembly seat on its ticket.
