Now, marriage registration for applicants from faraway locations in the city would be easier and less time-consuming due to an initiative of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to decentralise the process.
This new decision of BMC will save valuable time of newly married couples which could have been spent otherwise. The authorities of BMC have decided that to make the registration process available at three Zonal Deputy Commissioner's (ZDC) office at three different locations across the city which would make the process easier and less cumbersome.
The civic body has set up with the agenda to decentralise its various administrative works for which the zone offices are authorised with more responsibilities. During post marriage season a number of newly married couple with their relatives from bride and bridegroom side thronged the BMC headquarters for registration.
As the process of registration is time consuming one, the applicants had to wait for long hours. Now this new decision will save time of applicants as there will be lesser burden on the BMC head office, said Deputy Commissioner of Establishment branch Chitrasen Rout.
Now the ZDCs shall be responsible for issuing certificates with prevailing terms and conditions. It may be noted that marriage registration are done twice in a week, on Wednesday and Saturday.
