Police have arrested Ajit Kumar Sahu, Vice-Chairman of Phiringia block in Kandhamal district, for allegedly faking his kidnapping. Five associates of Ajit were also arrested for aiding him in the drama, while police seized three vehicles in connection with the incident.
Later, after Sahu’s family members registered a missing complaint following which Kandhamal SP Suvendu Samal formed a team led by Phiringia police station IIC Tapan kumar Nahak. The team with the help of phone tracking arrested the Vice Chairman and his five friends from the Sudra area under the Balliguda police station.
Phulbani SDPO Suprasanna Mallick said, “We have registered a case at Phiringia police station concerning the fake kidnapping, “As per Vice-Chairman Sahu’s confession, he had faked his kidnapping plot to highlight the issue in the media to get people’s sympathy,”
