Block Grant teachers hold stir in K'pada

Scores of teachers in the district here under the fold of the Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA)  on Saturday staged a dharna in front of Collectorate, demanding grant-in-aid (GIA) to 478 block grant high schools and abolition of para 6 of new GIA policy.

The agitators also demanded periodical increment in salary, admissible DA, application of service conditions at par with fully aided high schools, grant to second and third posts of teachers in new aided high schools and equal facilities as per RMSA norms.  If the State Government does not fulfill our genuine demands, then we will stage a dharana during the coming Assembly session at Bhubaneswar, the teachers warned. They also threatened to skip HSC examination duty and valuation.
