As part of their indefinite strike, the Block Grant teachers on Thursday gheraoed the MlAs’ quarters here demanding implementation of the State Government’s decision for full grant to the schools by abolishing the Block Grant system.

As many as 22,000 teachers under the banner of the Odisha Vidyalaya Shikshak Mahasangh (OBSM), Block Grant Teachers’ Association and Gana Sikhyak Mahasangh gheraoed the quarters of MlAs.

On Wednesday, the teachers had staged a massive rally in front of the State Assembly and had a faceoff with the police.

OBSM convener Prakash Chandra Mohanty said the protest would continue till the Government doesn’t give in to their demands and they would join schools only after implementation of the Grant-in-Aid rules of 1994.
