Teachers and employees of 488 Block Grant colleges would stage a massive rally in front of the State Assembly on August 24 demanding abolition of Block Grant system and implementation of full grant-in-aid (GIA) to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the colleges.
Briefing reporters here on Monday, members of the 488 Aided College Teachers’ and Employees’ Coordination Committee criticised the State Government for planning to introduce a Selection Board without abolishing the Block Grant system.
“Why the State Government is not scrapping the Block Grant system after so many discussions, stirs and movements,” asked the members.
The committee has decided to go for a strong movement and stage dharna and demonstration before the Assembly till the demands are fulfilled, said committee convener Priyaranjan Rath.
