The Opposition has gone all guns blazing against the ruling BJD functionaries in Jagatsinghpur who were identified in the (National Food Security Act) NFSA beneficiary list. In sensational revelation, District Congress Committee on Tuesday informed that Jagatsinghpur block chairman Prasanna Kumar Swain, vice chairman Sandhya Rani Khuntia and few prominent Sarpanchs of BJD have been included in the NFSA beneficiaries and demanded their resignations. Congress leader Sricharan Rout said that block chairman Swain represents as PS member from Jahanpur Gram Panchayat under Jagatsinghpur block. His wife Snigdha Rani Swain has been listed as an NFSA beneficiary.
Similarly, block vice chairman Sandhya Rani Khuntia who is Samiti member from Balarampur Panchayat, has figured in NFSA list. Moreover, Sarpanchs from Kaduapada and Balarampur have also managed to grab ration cards.
This indicates that many undeserving people have been issued ration cards at the cost of the eligible ones, said Rout, demanding an appropriate probe into the scam. Congress leader Alok Khuntia was present. When contacted, block chairman Swain informed, “I have petitioned o the Government for deleting my family from the list.” He added that he strongly disapproves of any discrepancy in the list.
Vice chairperson Sandhya Rani Khuntia informed that she was eligible to get listed as a beneficiary under NFSA.
