Four persons, including three women labourers, were injured after flavoured milk bottles burst in the Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (Omfed) plant at Chandrasekharpur here on Saturday.
The injured were identified as Sanatan Sahu, Mina, Rajani and Bini. Following the incident, the injured were rushed to a private hospital, where the condition of Sanatan was stated to be critical and a special team of doctors were treating him, sources said.
The blast took place at around 8 am during the cooling process of the flavoured milk bottles and around 1,000 bottles burst at a time while as many as 100 workers were present in the plant. Sources said the authorities immediately closed the plant to avoid further damage to life and property.
However, the reason of the blast was yet to be ascertained. Reports claimed a similar blast had taken place at the Omfed plant in 2007.
