The district police with the help of their counterparts in Haryana nabbed blacklisted super class contractor Bunty Agarwal from Haryana on Monday.
The police produced Bunty in a local court and would bring him here on transit remand.
Bunty nabbed by a police team led by the Nuapada district SP is the co-owner of a firm Suraj Enterprisers which is alleged to have bagged contracts worth crores of rupees by submitting fake term deposit receipts (TDR) in the districts of Nuapada, Balangir and Kalahandi.
The Rural Development had earlier blacklisted him for the irregularities. After the Roads and Buildings Department came to know about the fake TDRs, it has lodged cases against Bunty and his father Rajendra Kumar Agarwal in different police stations of the aforesaid districts.
It is alleged that the father and son duo produced fake TDRs to bag big contracts. But the involvement of bank staffs and department officials are suspected in the case as questions are raised how did the bank officials could not detect the fake TDRs. But the truth would be ascertained after his interrogation, police said.
