The issue of removal of black stoles from women at a meeting addressed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Sundargarh a week ago got a new twist on Sunday as two Congress MlAs, Yogesh Singh and Dr Prafulla Majhi, blamed Cuttack-Choudwar MlA Pravat Ranjan Biswal for the shameful act.
“Pravat Biswal is in charge of the BJD in Sundargarh district. He had asked police to take out black stoles from women and girls at the meeting,” alleged Singh and Majhi at a Press meet at Sundargarh on Sunday.
However, Biswal in his reaction said Congress leaders have become jealous of him and, hence, are making such baseless allegations.
It may be noted that the Sundargarh incidence has remained a matter of hot discussion both in and outside the State Assembly. Opposition Congress and BJP members had
demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister, who later expressed shock over what police did to women.
