Intensifying its protest against Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma for his alleged links with the tainted Artha Tatwa (AT) chit fund firm, Youth Congress activists on Thursday waived black flags at him here on Thursday demanding his resignation from the Ministry.
The Minister was on a visit to the district to launch the Aahaar scheme.
Dasburma, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and local MlA Maheswar Mohanty were on their way to the venue amid tight security to inaugurate a new Aahaar centre near the Puri bus-stand when six Youth Congress activists broke the police cordon and showed black flags at Dasburma. They asked the Minister how he had come here to inaugurate the Aahaar centre despite being involved in the chit fund scam.
All the six agitators were quickly nabbed by police. later, the cops detained eight supporters of the Congress for further questioning in connection with the incident. The Congress has been demanding the Dasburma’s head after senior party leader lalatendu Bidyadhar (lulu) Mohapatra alleged that the Minister is linked with the chit fund scam and has received a Pajero SUV from the AT Group. Dasburma, on the other hand, said the allegations are a political conspiracy against him. He called upon opposition leaders to produce documents to back their claims.
“The CBI is now investigating the case, and whatever documents they wanted from me I have submitted to it. let the CBI complete the investigation. I will quit politics if I am found guilty,” said Dasburma.
