Bijay Kumar Sharma was on Wednesday appointed as the State’s Director General of Police (DGP)-in-Charge. He will assume charge on Thursday.
Prior to it, Sharma, 1986-batch Odisha-cadre IPS officer, was serving as the Director General of Fire Services.
BK Sharma’s new appointment followed a day after DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma was selected as a Member of the Odisha Lokayukta after heading the State police since August, 2017. He had applied for voluntary retirement from service. Now, speculations intensified as to who will be the next fulltime DGP. BK Sharma, because of his good track records in the department, is likely to be appointed to the post.
