Member of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) and former Odisha High Court Judge Bira Kishore Mishra has assumed charge as the acting chairperson of the OHRC on Monday in succession to Dr Rabi Narfayan Bohidar, a retired IAS officer, whose term of office expired on Sunday.
Governor Dr SC Jamir authorised Justice Mishra to act as the OHRC’s Chairperson until the appointment of a new Chairperson to fill the vacancy.
After assuming his office, Justice Mishra said his priority would be to dispose of the complaints filed by the vulnerable sections of the society such as women, old men and women, SC and ST people and persons with disabilities.
