Ahead of the 2014 general elections, the State BJP Yuva Morcha would conduct a membership drive from July 6  coinciding with the foundation of the BJP with a view to bring as many as one lakh additional youths to the party fold.

Talking to newsmen at the State party headquarters here on Sunday, national BJP Yuva Morcha Vice President Mahesh Gagda said, “We have targeted to collect one lakh members across the State from July 6, which is the foundation day of the BJP. The membership drive would commence from the birth place of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for a period of two months.”

Gagda said that the youth wing of the party would fight against the corrupt BJD Government in the State and the Congress-led UPA regime in the Centre and throw them out of power in the 2014 elections. “The youth wing of the party is committed to work to bring a corruption free BJP Government in Odisha and in New Delhi in the 2014 general elections,” he asserted.

Gagda slammed the BJD  for its involvement in several multi-crore scams, be it mining or the chit fund fraud. He also criticised CM Naveen Patnaik for failing at all fronts, including maintaining law and order, crime against women and combating the Maoist menace.

State youth wing Vice President Umakanta Patnaik said the members within the age group of 18-35 years would be selected in next two months from the district level across the State. A committee would be constituted soon to monitor the membership drive, he said.
