The BJP Yuva Morcha (BJPYM) staged protests against the rising prices of essential commodities, particularly the skyrocketing of the price of onion here on Sunday.
BJPYM workers took out a procession from the party office and reached the Ram Mandir Square, where they burnt effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Keshari Deb.
BJPYM State president Umakanta Patnaik said the move to sell onion at special outlets at subsidised price is a just an eyewash.
BJPYM State general secretary Thakur Ranajit Das, Satya Brata Nayak, Vivekananda Barik, Amitabh Samatrai, Tapan Jyoti Barik, Asis lenka, Somnath Barik and Sangram Nayak led the protests.
