About a hundred activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were on Thursday detained by the Commissionerate police when they clashed with cops in their attempt to break through the barricade near lower PMG Square to enter the State Assembly.
The BJYM workers, who marched from the BJP State office via Master Canteen Square to the Assembly, were stopped at lower PMG Square by the police.
BJYM workers were protesting against the collection of `100 from BPUT students for placement and were demanding resignation of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma for his alleged involvement in the chit fund scam and NFSA irregularities.
“They are in Government for the last 16 years, but they have done nothing for the youth in these years. The BJD in these years has failed in its promise to provide jobs to youths,” said an office-bearer of BJYM, Manasi Manjari Ray, speaking to reporters.
“We took to the streets against the corruption of the Naveen Patnaik Government. We are protesting against the collection of `100 from BPUT students on the plea of providing jobs to them. We demand immediate resignation of Naveen Patnaik and Sanjay Dasburma. We will take our protests to the mandal and block levels,” said another BJYM office-bearer.
