BJP workers lock K'put Collectorate

BJP activists locked the Koraput Collector’s office on Monday to protest against what they termed the alleged failure of the Naveen Patnaik Government on all fronts.

As part of the party’s Parivartan Rally, they raised issues of malnutrition deaths at Nagada, the Government’s incapability in handling the Mahanadi water sharing dispute, the Kandhamal killings and inadequate drought assistance to farmers.

The activists led by party general secretary Bhurgu Baxipatra, laid siege to the Collectors’ office on not finding the Collector. As the ADM came to the spot to receive the memorandum, the irate women activists lock the entrance gate of the Collectorate causing inconvenience to the staffs and common people who had come for various purposes.

“We are fighting for genuine cause of the people. Naveen Patnaik Government has no morality to rule the State in the wake of the Nagada, Mahanadi issue and other burning topics are concerned,” said Buxipatra.

In Nabarangpur too, members of the saffron party gheraoed the Collectorate.

No one was, however, arrested in this connection.
