The BJP Mahila Morcha on Thursday said it would collect ‘churies’ (bangles) from women and offer the same to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 10 if he doesn’t oust Minister Pradeep Maharanthy from his Cabinet and does not order a CBI probe into the Pipili gangrape and murder case.
“As Home Minister, the Chief Minister should take moral responsibility for Babina gang-rape culprits getting acquitted due to lack of evidence. As Crime Branch is under him, the Chief Minister should immediately order for a CBI probe to bring culprits to fore,” demanded Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida.
She demanded that the Chief Minister oust Maharathy from his Cabinet and primary membership of the BJD as he has given derogatory remarks many times, the last being on Bebina gangrape issue.
“We have asked women to send churis to BJP Mahila Morcha office from tomorrow. If our demands are not met soon, we go to the Naveen Niwas and present the collected churis to the CM on January 10,” said Parida.
