The BJP on Sunday put many posers relating to violence against women, Mahanadi water dispute and corruption and demanded that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reply to the questions in public soon.
“Every day, six women are being subjected to sexual assaults in the State. Odisha is 27th in women violence at the national level. Ruling party leaders are involved in many of women-related violence. The Chief Minister should clarify as to what step his Government is going to take to check such crimes,” demanded BJP leaders in its executive meeting conscluded on Sunday. .
The executive put four questions on Mahanadi dispute and replies from the Chief Minister. The party wanted to know why the Government has not taken any step to conserve Mahanadi water when 53 to 63 per cent water is being flowed into sea and why it is not giving data to the tribunal formed by the Union Government and instead playing political drama by taking out Padayatras.
Similarly, the party wanted to know what steps the State Government has taken to provide supports to farmers in order to check suicides in the regions where the Chief Minister is taking out Mahanadi Padayatra and steps for creating irrigation facilities.
The party also alleged that the Government failed in maintaining law and order and curbing corruption in the State. A detailed discussion was also held on the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the State.
The executive meeting presided over by State president Basanta Panda was attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, Odisha Pravari Arun Singh and BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo, among many other leaders.
