BJP to strengthen organisation at grassroots

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday decided to hasten the process for strengthening of its organisation at the grassroots in Odisha and making an aggressive campaign against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the issues of alleged “corruption”  in Government offices, “governance failure,” irregularities in welfare schemes.

A political resolution to this effect was adopted at the party’s State executive body meeting here.

The meeting chaired by party State president Samir Mohanty was, among others, attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda and party State in-charge D Purandeswari and observer Sunil Bansal.

Former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang and his son Shishir Gamang, who recently met Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) president and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, were conspicuous by their absence in the meeting.

The party also resolved to launch a movement against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his failure on all fronts.

BJP State general secretary Golak Mohapatra said the party chalked out a two-point strategy to boost its winning prospects in the upcoming elections. “In order to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, our focus is now on booths. Some leaders of the party will be given responsibilities of mandals (circles) and they will reach out to the booth level,” he said.

In the next three months, added Mohapatra, the party would make all its members active in all booths and propagate the various welfare schemes of the Centre to people.

“Our party members will also highlight hijacking of various Central schemes by the Odisha Government apart from exposing the incompetence of the government,” he added.

“The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) portal was opened thrice since 2019, but the Odisha Government did not make any single entry of beneficiaries,” he alleged.
