The BJP after its State executive meeting here on Tuesday announced to hold agitation from October 12 to 18 in its 1,001 Mandals across the State making the rampant corruption in the BJD Government at the grassroots an issue.
Speaking to reporters, BJP State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said though the BJD is ruling the State with an absolute majority, the common people have been deprived of justice. The lion’s share of funds of welfare schemes for poor being allotted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being pocketed by BJD leaders through PC, bribes and corruption, he alleged.
Harichandan said BJD MPs Tathagata Satpathy and Baijayant Panda have directly termed the Ministers and officers as ‘Chors’. The State Contractors’ Association has levelled serious allegations of PC culture. The media have repeatedly exposed various scams of the State Government.
The CAG report has also pointed out instances of corruption in the State Government. The Chief Minister in the Collectors’ conference also admitted of the rampant PC culture and urged to immediately stop it, Harichandan said.
He further said collapsing of under-construction bridges have turned into a routine affair in the State. Though the Chief Minister has asked to stop PC, corruption has spiralled in the Works and Water Resources Departments, which are his own portfolios.
So, proposals were passed in the State executive meet to build up a mass agitation against the corrupt Naveen Patnaik from the booth level and fight for the rights of Odias, Harichandan said.
