BJP to highlight Naveen Govt's failures

Keeping the 2017 panchayat elections in its view, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State executive at its meeting here on Sunday formulated strategies to woo the electorate by enlightening them about the failures of the Naveen Patnaik Government “in all fronts” and successfulness of the Modi Government at the Centre.

The BJP State apex body resolved to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.

On the first day of the two-day session, the party began deliberations on the State’s economic and political scenarios highlighting the failures of the BJD Government and the achievements of the Modi Government.

A committee comprising senior BJP leaders would be formed at the State level to train party functionaries who would in their turn educate the party strategy to the workers at the booth level. The party workers would make people aware about the large-scale corruption like coal scam, chit fund scam and failure to provide irrigation to farmland, growing unemployment, migration of agriculture workers and farmers’ suicides, deteriorating law and order during the Naveen Patnaik regime.

The party cadres would enlighten people how the State Government is branding several Central Government-aided projects as its own. Before that, all the panchayat and block-level party committees would be revamped.

Almost all the 208 newly-elected party functionaries including State executive members, State and district office-bearers participated in the first meeting. Senior party leaders like Biswabhusan Harichandan, Bijay Mohapatra, Dilip Ray, Manamohan Samal and Giridhar Gamang were present, besides State president Basant Panda.

Union Ministers Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan also addressed the session while party national secretary Arun Singh and joint secretary Saudan Singh were present as observers.
