The BJP would corner the BJD Government in the Assembly with several issues, most pertinently over the problems in the farm sector and plight of farmers. This was decided at the BJP legislature party meet presided over by floor leader KV Singh Deo on Monday.
Speaking to mediaperosns, MLA Pradip Purohit said the farmers are not getting their due price at the Government-run mandis. He said though the Central Government has hiked the paddy MSP to Rs 1,750 per quintal, the State Government was not paying the same to the farmers. He also alleged about various irregularities committed during procurement of paddy at the mandis.
Purohit informed that the BJP will attack the Government over growing women harassment cases, thriving PC culture, false information by Government on Biju Swastya Kalyan Scheme, Rs 300 crore chit fund corpus fund scam, drinking water problem, continuous mess in Shreemandir, misutilisation of district mineral funds and rising unemployment rate in the State.
He said while the Modi Government has sanctioned Rs 5.13 lakh crore in last five years under various schemes to the State, the BJD Government has failed to properly use the funds depriving the people of Odisha of their benefits. The BJP will demand an explanation from the Government over the issue. Among others, State BJP president Basant Panda, MLAs Bibhuti Bhusan Harichandan, Duryodhan Majhi, Govind Das, Nitish Gangadev and Radharani Panda were present.
