BJP terms State Budget ‘disappointing’

The State BJP has discarded the interim Budget presented in the House on Thursday as ‘discouraging’ for all sections of society. Party’s State vice president Samir Mohanty said while in the 2018-19 Budget, the expenditure was Rs 67,000 crore, in the 2019-20 Budget the expenditure has been slashed to Rs 66,000 crore.

Mohanty asked while the overall rise of the current Budget is by 10 per cent compared to the last budget, the expenditures should also have been risen by 10 per cent. This will affect in implementing the welfare schemes in the State, asserted Mohanty.

Pointing out that the State Government has not spent Rs 10, 555 crore from the last Budget, he questioned how it can spend 25 per cent of funds still lying unspent meant to be spent by March 31.

Mohanty further criticized the boasting of the Government on surplus revenue. He said while the loan of the State has been Rs 16,193 crore, the Government taking credit of a revenue surplus of Rs 8, 433 crore is meaningless.
